So yeah, I did it again. I swear I am not this unreliable in real life. I have loads going on right now. I am writing again. (cue the angels singing)
Yes, it has finally happened. I thought I was going crazy for a while there. You guys will not believe busy I have been. Honestly, I am not going for sympathy here. Just see for yourself.
Since the last time I wrote....
I read two ARC's (advanced review copies for the layman) and reviewed and posted them for the author.
I am now part of a street team which means I get to see super cool stuff before the public and give feedback.
I had an author I admire ask me for specific feedback on a project she is doing. I was super nervous on this one. What if she doen't like my ideas? What the hell do I know anyway? I am no scholar, I am just winging it here like most everyone else. What makes my ideas any better? And down and down the doubtful spiral goes. I think I have given a good accounting of myself so far.
I signed up to help another author friend of mine help with her newest title on release day. That consisted of me posting across multiple social medias with her buy links and talking it up with the book art. That was also the first time I ever did that. It was fun.
I am also part of a couple blogs that review books on a regular basis. I did about three of these books. Which require reading, reviewing and posting review links back to the blogs so they know I held up my end of the bargain.
Do you know what goes into writing a review? It ain't easy. Every one has to be original and not be redundant. There are rules, ya know. For one, you can't just spew a summary of the book, that's lazy and quite frankly rude in my opinion.
If I wanted to read a book report I would have read the blurb. No, you need to be specific on what you liked and disliked about the book.
Was there enough background given? Did you feel a connection to the MC? Did the events flow consitently? Was the dialoge witty enough or serious enough depending on the type of book? Was there too much dialoge or not enough?
These are just a few of the things I do when reviewing. I also try to describe how the characters in the book made me feel and if I liked them or not. I finally wrap it up with some favorite quotes from said book. That is my favorite because I try not to pick ones that are already well known.
Now, imagine doing all that work for multiple books? Just let it sink in for a bit.
You see what I mean?
Now, even with being on a street team, two book blogs and helping an author friend, I am able to hold a full time job, volunteer at my daughters school and keep up with my writing. Of course, the house is filthy, but that is what weekends are for. Right?
I sound like I have no life.
But I really do. Who needs sleep? You can sleep when you're dead is what my mom used to say.
Why am I sharing all this with you? So you don't stay mad at me for flaking out on this blog of course!
It's a learning process is all I am saying. Be kind, I am not doing this on purpose. Now I wil let you in on something. Psst, come closer my sweet. Closer.....
I will give you something of me that is very hard to do. It's a piece of myself. Here you go. It's very short.

“Hey you.” I looked up at Chris smiling at me.
I liked that we were going to be friends. We were together for a very long time. I still don’t know why he broke up with me. As far as I knew everything was great with us. Our sudden break-up had caused an uncomfortable ripple to charge through our close group. At least now we were trying to be friends. It was awkward for a while whenever we all hanging out. Inwardly shrugging I tried to let it go. I was with Tanner now. It seemed we got what we wanted.
“Hey, how have you been?”
“Oh you know, same old same old. Parties, orgies and lots of sex!” I couldn’t hold in my laughter and covered up my mouth with one hand while smacking him in the shoulder with the other.
“Oh stop it liar! You are the most straight edge one here.” He mocked being shocked with a hand over his chest.
“Me? I am as wild as they come.” He said into the quiet that surrounded us. When I looked over at him he was looking at the ground. Uneasiness slithered up my limbs dragging them down with uncertainty. So much for it not being weird.
“It’s good to see you.” Chris said in the silence.
“You just saw me yesterday.” I offered.
“Yeah, but that was a little awkward, you have to admit. I show up to my ex-girlfriends new boyfriends house and then ask to speak with you.” Well when he put it like that, I suppose it was.
“Yeah I guess.” He turned to me with a seriousness I rarely see in his face.
“Look Cece, I don’t want this to sound weird, but I want you to know if you ever need to talk I am here okay?” He put his hand on my shoulder squeezing gently. His touch stirred up memories of last year when we were still together.
“Hey you.” Chris whispered in my ear as his hand ran up my arms slowly before resting on my bare shoulders and gently massaged me. I relaxed into his ministrations letting out a groan.
“Don’t you dare stop.” I somehow managed to get out. He tensed before leaning in.
“Cece” he whispered. “I couldn’t stop touching you if I tried. Your skin is so soft and I love the way you shiver at my touch.” He kissed my neck and I swung around and launched myself into his arms kissing him soundly. He responded eagerly by tangling his hands in my hair and easing me against the locker. How did I get so lucky with him? .
“Ahem, Can I get into my locker guys?” Jay made a show of being put out but I knew how happy he was for us.
Chris didn’t even break our kiss, he just scooted us over making me smile into his mouth. He pulled back and rested his blue eyes on my brown ones.
“Let’s ditch sixth” His eyes glimmered like dark saphires. Open and inviting.
“I can’t” I huffed as I squeezed his ass, making his face redden.
“You are such a tease!” I smirked at him challengingly.
“Maybe” I pulled out of his embrace slowly, keeping eye contact. He visibly swallowed as he watched me saunter away.
Jay elbowed him to break our connection. “Dude, you are so whipped.” Chris ran his hand through his hair shaking his head. “I think you may right.”
I smiled to myself as I turned the corner to go to class.
“CECE!” yanked from my trip down memory lane I stumbled off the curb onto the bike lane where some speed racer was coming up fast.
